"The song's called ‘Turn Me Loose' and it's gonna be funky, and it's gonna be rockin'," says Jess. "It will be so cool, the song is absolutely amazing and I think with all of us singing together it's going to be amazing."
Having just finished high school Jessica decided joining the Idol super group – alongside Paulini Curuenavuli, Kate DeAraugo and Emily Williams – was a great way to get to know the industry.
"The girls asked me and I said yes," she says matter-of-factly. "It's a stepping stone, the Young Divas, and I've learnt so much already being with three girls. It's going to be a good experience."
As Jessica already knew the others girls she was an ideal fit for the group, who recently saw Ricki-Lee Coulter depart to concentrate on her solo career.
"I had met them previously, during Idol they'd come in and were kind of mentors, they'd give us tips and stuff," she explains. "I knew [2006 contestant] Lavina, Emily's sister, so I kind of met them through Lavina."
You can expect to hear a lot more from the Young Divas in coming months, with a brand new album on the way.
"We've actually just finished the album and it sounds great," Jessica enthuses. "It sounds so much different from the other stuff the used to do. It's more a rock chick, diva sort of thing."
As well as the joining the Divas and finishing her studies, Jessica recently became the face of shampoo Head and Shoulders and made a splash at the Deadly Awards, which recognises the achievements of Indiginous Australians.
"I won Best New Act," she says modestly. "I got my nice big pyriamid trophy and it's sitting on my piano with all my others. That was incredible. It was my first time at the Deadly Awards and I got to meet [boxer Anthony] Mundine."
You can catch the Young Divas on the Australian Idol Verdict Show this Monday.
