With the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge around him, the boy with the big heart and even bigger voice was gobsmacked when Andrew revealed Australia had voted for Stan to be their Idol of 2009.
Stan had stood hand in hand with Hayley Warner as they waited for the verdict and when he found out he had won, the two hugged before Stan thanked God and his family and then sang his winner’s single, “Black Box”.
As this year’s Australian Idol, Stan Walker is now a Sony recording artist and has a $200,000 artist development fund, as well as a brand new car to play with. As Australia has been saying throughout the competition – Stan’s the man!
