One in 100 Australians is diagnosed with cancer before the age of 30 and cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death amongst Australia’s teenagers.

In support of CanTeen, this Thursday Sony Foundation will take over the full line-up of restaurants at Sydney’s Woolloomooloo Wharf to host a one-off lunchtime fundraising event: Wharf4Ward. The star-studded event will be used to kick off Sony Foundation’s major fundraising drive, to build specialised wards for teenage and young adult cancer sufferers.

Although this event is sold out you can check out the Idols' performance on this Sunday’s show and get involved in Sony Foundation’s campaign through 'Buy-a-Builder' which will be launched at Wharf4Ward. Buy-a-Builder allows you to buy a customisable virtual builder (or avatar) and help to build real cancer wards.

You can access the Buy-a-Builder program via website, mobile phone (SMS 'donate' to 193 123) or by purchasing a donation card in store at Sony Centres. Head to www.buyabuilder.com.au and create a unique 'virtual brickie' or 'virtual chippie' etc in your own image. Your builders will then join the army of supporters, whose donations are contributing to building teenage and young adult cancer wards around the country.

Once you have purchased and personalised your builder you are able to access "builder booty" including laptop wallpaper, posters of your builder, wallpaper for your mobile and Facebook profile pic. Plus, when you buy a builder you’ll also receive a free Bandit FM voucher from Sony Music.
