Week Four

Heya, what’s up?

Much, much love to my family and friends in New Zealand, and my family and friends in Australia. To all my fans, thank you for all your support. Fully appreciate it. Hayzell, Mummy is coming to get you soon! Love you!

Being in the Bottom Three was scary-as. I felt really awkward and it honestly felt like it was my last night being a part of Australian Idol. The scariest thing about that would be missing everyone in the competition because they feel like family. However, I’m so incredibly grateful and thankful that I got the support and votes to stay in this competition, cuz I still feel I have a lot to share with Australia.

Going to Bondi was mean-as! We got to have breaky, got to kick it on the beach, got to put our feet in the sand and head in the skies. We got to mingle amongst the peeps, which we haven’t done for ages. It’s usually home, studio, home, studio, so it was good to meet the peeps. I got to do a bit of shopping at the markets, which was cool, and me and Roshani got to have a cold one which topped off the day. We were lucky enough to come face-to-face with our fans and get to know them, which was hectic.

Oddly enough, I’m look forward to Abba. At first I thought, ‘O. M. G. What the…’ But now that I think about it, the song I’ve chosen reminds me of my aunties back home, so I have a personal connection to the song, plus I’ve played around with it just a little bit – not too much! Really excited about that.

Just like to say: Sam our cook, aka mother and father at home – you rock, love you so much, your food is like Daaaaaaaayyyyuum!! Love ya to bits!

To all the peeps still in the competition and the ones that have left, just wanna let you know, love you guys heaps. To all my fans, cheers for all your support. I read your comments, I read the fan mail, I read my Bebo, and also thanks for writing up fan sites and stuff because I do see them, and I majorly appreciate it.

I’m having so much fun and learning so much in this experience, and just so deeply, deeply grateful to be a part of this.

Much love, take care,

Madam

Week Three

It’s a beautiful, sunny day today, which is great cuz it’s my birthday! All the peeps at the house and Sam sung me “Happy Birthday”, I had chocolate cake, they put a sign up for me, and I got cuddles from everyone.

But at the mo it’s back to bizzo, doing workshops working on the song for Sunday. Eighties week was really fun last week – got to dress up to the nines, and relive the '80s for a night – that was heaps and heaps of fun. My performance could have been better, but I had fun, and that’s what it’s all about in the end, enjoying what you love doing.

The workshop with Darren Hayes was really, really interesting. He’s such a nice guy, very warm and approachable. He advised me to get more foxy and own the stage, and not to be afraid to use my sex appeal more – especially in this week’s song which is a pop song. It’s not my genre of music but I’m totally keen to learn different styles – I’m open-as. My experience with Darren Hayes was unforgettable, such an honour.

Also, last evening we got to watch Bobby Flynn at the Basement, which was off the chain. The band was in the pocket; amazing dynamic, amazing discipline. The material they had was far out. Just awesome – you could sit there and listen to them for ages and ages. They played bits of reggae, alternative music, neo-soul, Latin, salsa - a bit of everything! Meeting Bobby showed us a lot of hope for those that don’t make it to number one; if you want it enough and work hard enough for it, you can make things happen. Seeing him in the flesh was an eye-opener for us all.

Seeing Brooke leave was really, really hard – a shock to the system more than anything else. She is not only so gifted and talented – she’s young and has so much potential. It was sad to see her go, but I know she has a big bright future ahead of her. She’s hugely gifted and driven.

Getting the privilege of working with Cyndi Lauper was a dream come true. I never thought I’d get to meet someone like her in my whole entire life, so to meet her in the flesh, and have her help and guide me was huge. It was so exciting – and her eyes man, they are so intense! A privilege to be in her presence and have her help me out.

Thank you to Sam for the chocolate goodies and thanks to everyone for singing me “Happy Birthday” and giving me cuddles – love you guys majorly.

Hello to Hayzell, and I miss and love you heaps, we’ll catch up soon son, don’t you worry. Mum and Dad, thank you for supporting me – and to my sister, hang in there! My brother-in-law love you lots – you’ll be a daddy soon. Nicky boy, you’re incredible, and such a good dad. Nick and Winnie – love you lots, thanks for supporting me.

To my friends and family in New Zealand – love youse lots, youse know who you are. To my friends and family in Australia, love youse lots, youse know who you are! To all my fans, thank you for supporting me, much love to you all,

Take care,

Madam

Week Two

Hey, what’s up everyone?

So we had our vocal workshops on Friday, which were interesting. I learnt a lot arrangement-wise, trying to figure out the dynamics of it and feel comfortable. It was lots of fun and I learnt heaps. Erana and John are a blast to work with. Saturday – omigod, The McDonalds Charity Ball was huuuge! We got glammed up, made up, the whole get up. I got to meet Ronald McDonald, which was hectic. We performed as a group, which was really comfortable, and we got to see Rick-Lee perform. She's so unreal man. She's amazing, and she's so sure of what she wants and she works hard at it. You can see it in her performance, she gives it her all. I admire that - I look up to her and wanna learn more about her. The food was magic at that Ball too. And that's where me and Jonny got to connect a little more, which was really cool. We met face to face with a few fans and signed some autographs. The feeling of being able to move and touch and inspire people from singing is huge.

Sunday night's performance was so much fun - it just felt like I was having a jam in the garage. I felt so comfortable, so loose. I had so much fun, it was hectic. I felt way more at ease than my last performance. I think it’s like, the more I’m learning, the more confident I feel. I thought the judge’s comments were really cool, it’s such a privilege to get those types of comments from the judges, I’m just grateful as. Kyle kinda scared me for a bit, he’s got the most intense look, it makes me crumble! But to hear him give really good feedback was hectic, I hope I can keep it up.

It was freaky meeting Jordin Sparks, I froze for a bit when she entered the room. It was one of those out-of-body experiences, I was like 'No way! No way!' We get American Idol back in New Zealand, so I remember seeing her on TV and seeing her growth. Seeing her take it out was major. She spoke to us, and I was really nervous and just nodded my head. She actually mentioned that she liked my profile, she thought it was cute and she liked my song. I was honoured to have Jordin Sparks – the Jordin Sparks - even thinking of me!

The fame thing didn’t really register in my mind till we went out to Westpoint Blacktown, during the day. Seeing all these people there and hearing them scream my name and feeling the vibe from them and getting so much crazy feedback was hectic. They all wanted to shake your hand, look their way and give them a wave – it was a good feeling, really warm. Those kind of things give you extra strength to keep going on.

I chose my '80s song because there was a remake done of it in the '90s with a kind of hip hop drop in it, and that’s definitely down my alley way. I love music from the '90s. I have a personal connection with the lyrics of the song at times, and I’m sure a lotta ladies can relate to it too.

Shout out to Jonny Taylor – miss you man. Pity you had to go cos I feel you had such incredible talent, but I know you’ll be moving onto bigger and greater things. I hope you’re happy, and I just wanna let you know you’re such a good friend and I’m glad you opened up in the end. Much love.

Shout out to my friends and family back in New Zealand, thank you so much. To my son Hayzell, Mummy loves you. Nicky: much love to you and thanks so much for all your support. You’re such a great man, and I’m lucky to have you in my life, and your mum and dad as well, thank you so much being there.

All my family and friends in Oz, major love, thanks for hanging in there and your support.

All my fans, thanks for the ups on everything. I majorly appreciate it. I do read my fan mail and I do read my comments on Bebo, it means so much to me.

Much love, take care

Madam.

Week One

Hey, what’s up everyone.

I’ll be dropping in every week to give you the inside scope of what’s up!

I’m fully stoked that I’m in the Final 12! Thank you so much for supporting for me and voting. I know I was really, really shy to begin with but I’m warming up and I’m keen get into it. It’s been a crazy experience – ups and downs, highs and lows – I miss all my family and friends. I love youse dearly, and I am so grateful to have youse as my support. Hayzell, mummy loves you and I’m gonna come get you one day soon! To some of the past Idols - Brodie boy, Nicole, Irae, Silky - miss youse so much, hope to hook up soon. My old friends I used to sing back with in NZ, you know who you are, love youse heaps.

We went to the Channel Ten launch party on Monday, which was cool, got to relax and get introduced to the media. We got to perform, which was really hectic, and then have a relaxed drink after with James, Dicko and Marcia. Didn’t see Kyle or John, but hi!

We’re staying in a huge mansion with a lift in it, which is crazy. I’ve only just found the route my room – that took me a couple of days. Sam, our cook, is the bomb, love you heaps! He gets to be like our mum and dad, all in one. It’s cool living with the Final 12 crew, there’s no dramas, but it’s only been a few days, so we’ll see what happens.

I’m looking forward to working with the band, and the stylist Sheridan, he’s the bomb. He’s the guy that helps me pick out my get-ups, and makes me feel like a stunner. He’s funny and makes fun of my feet!

Stoked on our phones – we got some Sony Ericsson phones. They’re weird; I’ve never had one like it before. It’s got movement motion thingy’s, which I still don’t understand to this day, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out in a year or two – he he he!

Learning a lot, definitely learning heaps. Erina is fantastic in the workshops, and Ricki-Lee is so helpful and warm. Greg needs to slow down on the coffee; he’s full of energy every single day – LOL. Nah, jokes, love that guy. And all the other Idol crew are cool as. And as for me, I’m just enjoying the ride, man. Loving every minute of it.

Again, to my fans, thank you so much for supporting, thank you so much for voting – keep dialing my name to keep me in the game. Thank you so, so much.

Much love,

Madam.
