Big band week this week - when I went in for the workshop, it just blew me away.
I’ve just been struggling a bit the last two weeks. I think I just need to find my happy little self and get back into having fun. It’s all pretty bloody full on at the moment, it’s getting to the nitty gritty part of the competition where you’ve just got to pick up your game and give it all you’ve got. That’s something I bloody well need to do if I want to stay in it. So I just need to find my feet and enjoy it a bit more.
We’re meeting these fantastic people, it’s unbelievable. I’m very grateful for it. Met Harry Connick Jr. He’s never lost for words and he gave us confidence and advice. He’s definitely a man who knows what he’s doing and he’s done pretty well! He’s pretty laidback too, we were having a chat and he told me to stay who I am because I was telling him I’m a country bumpkin and it’s hard when you get these genres thrown at you when you’re so different. He told me to just get out there and be myself, so that’s what I really need to do. I’ve been forgetting to do that the last two weeks. Hopefully this week I can just get out there and give it everything I’ve got and have a bloody ball!
G’day to all the fans and supporters out there - if it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be here, so I just want to thank you. G’day to the family, love everybody heaps and heaps – I miss yous all.
Kate
