I have to say over the last 5 years of idol i haven't seen anyone come close to reaching the talent or charisma of Guy Sebastian, don't get me wrong there have been some talented singers, Casey, Kate and Damien don't quite match up to him he was the first and ONLY Australian Idol.

I think the other winners bring something different. But guy is def and all rounder and he is def the type of person that can break the world market. He is that talented. Even if he does stop singing i'm sure you'll see more of him in his song writing talents or even producing.

Finally!!!! Someone I agree with in the 'past idols' threads.
Guy was absolutely the best Idol from any series so far.

I've just been watching videos of past performances from every series, mostly Guy, and I just will never understand why he didn't repeat his performance of "Climb Every Mountain" in that World Idol show. Did they not want him to win? Of all the songs he did, "What a wonderful world", must be the lamest. He could have sung "I'll be there", "When I get you alone", "Crazy in love", etc. anything else, and he would've blown them all away. No wonder the World Idol didn't get a return performance.

I think in World Idol, the producers made the final decision when it came to what song the Idols would sing. So they put in three songs or something that they wanted to do, but ultimately, it wasn't really up to them.

yeah world idol was crap. But I still loved what guy sang, however i don't think it appealed to the rest of the world.

I've been listening to a lot more guy lately and I tell you what I'll never get bored with his voice, he is just a true talent.

Hands down THE best product and Artist to come out of Idol. It provided Guy Sebastian the launchpad he needed to get into the industry. He was always going to make it one way or another, it was just a matter of when. The man is talent. He oozes with it through his voice and incredible songwriting ability. He is an artist in his own right and is well on his way to greatness for many years to come.

For those that don't know Guy Sebastian has a new single out. It hit music retailers last week. The single 'Cover On My Heart' is the third from his current album Closer to the Sun and is amazing soulful ballad that exposes Guy's undeniable talent. It's in stores and available now from all good music retailers. The Cover On My Heart EP is also available digitally on iTunes.

The reason why Guy sang "what a wonderful world" on World Idol was because he wanted to sing "when doves cry" but apparently he was not given permission to by "Prince" as Prince owns the song, so he had to choose another song in a relatively short amont of time. Don't quote me on this but this is what i heard from somewhere i just can't remember where.

Does anyone know where I can get the video of Guys performances on Idol? My youngest was diagnosed with cancer that year and I credit Idol and in particular Guys performances with getting me through a lot of it.
Unfortunately I missed some of his performances while in the hospital like the bryan adams song the john farnham song and the crazy in love song. I really want to see them.
I was actually in the hospital with my daughter during one of her chemo treatments when he was announced the winner and there were a lot of quiet cheers all over the place!!!

I reckon Damien Leith is the next best after Guy. Love his new song 22steps.

I just love Guy's the best. I went to the Opera House to hear him sing with the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra. Wow that was an event! I've alos seen a coulpe of live shows too. that are just a blast.
He is currently in Memphis recording an soul classics tribute album with the orignal Stax musicians - that's Booker T Jones and Steve Cropper et al. What a huge honour for him to be able to put together an album with these legends. (Booker T was given the 2007 Grammy for his services to American music). It is amazing that these peeps consider Guy good enough to sing with and for them! I hope it takes him far.
And Guy just wrote and recorded a song for World Youth Day 2008 - estimated audience to hear or sing his song is about 1 billion! That is impressive too.
Big things are abrewing for this young man. We are ony just starting to see the beginings.
