As Australian Idol’s Vocal Coach, it’s Erana Clark’s job to help the contestants sound their very best. But the competition aspect means she has to be careful not to take anything away from the performers own ideas.

It’s a tricky line to walk, but having worked with the best in the business, it’s one that Erana walks with ease.

Hosting her own music show at age 12 in New Zealand, Erana had scored her first top 10 single in her homeland by 14 and performed at a Royal Command performance by 15. Three hit albums followed.

Soon making the big move to Australia, Erana lent her amazing voice to tours with Tom Jones, INXS, Thelma Houston, Midnight Oil, Renee Geyer, Wendy Matthews, Kate Ceberano and Marcia Hines, travelling throughout Asia, Europe and America.

Erana’s vast TV experience has also included performances on Good Morning Australia, Midday with Ray Martin, Midday with Kerri-Anne, The Don Lane Show and The Mike Walsh Show.

In 1997 Erana won the European Singing Competition held in Turkey and in 2005 she was awarded the Best New Artist at The Gospel Music Awards.

She is a regular performer at renowned Sydney music venue The Basement and has a residency at The Transistor.

When Erana isn't working on Idol or performing, she coaches other aspiring singers in 12 week vocal courses and workshops, which are held in Sydney's Northern Beaches. Erana covers not just singing but song writing, recording and performance.

Last year multi-talented Erana was the musical director for SBS’ reality soccer hit Nerds FC.

There is no doubt that Australia will watch 2007’s Australian Idols shine as Erana continues to share with them her wealth of knowledge in her gentle style.
