Before the last performances of this week’s semi-finals, it was announced that Sabrina Batshon   and Scott Newnham   were through to the Final 12.

Kim Cooper   kicked things off with Katy Perry’s “Waking Up In Vegas” and looked like she had a great time doing so. Dicko suggested to her afterwards that being “superhot” could work against Kim, as she might have trouble connecting with female audiences. Jay Dee told Kim not to worry about Dicko’s comments since it was just “marketing” talk and told her she had delivered a good performance.

Curly headed Ed Zaidan sang Eskimo Joe’s “Foreign Land”. Marcia thought it was a really strong, intense rock performance. Jay Dee said it was a good performance but he wants more consistency from Ed. Dicko wasn’t sure if power pop suits Ed’s voice but told him he thought there was an artist inside Ed – it just needs coaxing out.

Lucie Johnson took on Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” and delivered an assured, spirited performance. Jay Dee commended her “brave” song choice and said Lucie pulled it off. He added, however, that it takes more than a good voice to make it in the music industry. Dicko told Lucie she needs a destination – who she’s going to be.

Marcia asked Lucie to explain what Jay Dee and Dicko were talking about, and then simply told Lucie she “had torn that song up.”

Tim Johnston   sang “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”, provoking Dicko to question Tim about singing soul music because he said he wasn’t convinced he was a soul singer. Marcia told Tim to sing soul music if he wanted to and said she liked his performance.

All the judges agreed “Love Song” by Taylor Swift was a perfect song choice for Tenielle Muslin. Jay Dee told Tenielle he does, however, think there’s room for her voice to grow. Dicko said her voice was a bit too breezy at the moment and told her to bring on the hurricane!

James Johnston   shook it a little as he delivered Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”. Jay Dee told James young girls are going to love him, Dicko thought he looked like the office junior on a night out and Marcia gave him props for his Elvis moves. As Marcia says, “it’s good to put the show in the biz!”

Phew! And with that, the massive semi-finals week was over. Stay tuned for the wildcard show on Sunday night to see who scores the votes tonight and which contestants will get a second chance at centre stage!
