Week Eight

Westfield Parramatta. There were some really interesting people at Westfield Parramatta. I didn’t realise how many fans I had until I got up there to sing – they were all screaming for me. I loved it and I hope we get the chance to do it again soon.

Sunday night – I thought it was fantastic night. Kyle said he loved me, Dicko said I was a Good Time Gertie and Marcia said that I was cool. I thought Roshani picked a good song and she sung it well. Don’t know why the judges were bagging her, but they did. Mark got the touchdown, and he deserved it. Loved his performance, with just him and the guitar – he’s gonna get very far.

Monday night – I’m so happy I got through – I was preparing myself for the Bottom Three. So glad people voted for me – if you didn’t vote for me, I wouldn’t be here doing a written blog thing for you.

Chris Brown was aaaaawwwweesooooommmeee! He’s pretty good looking, I have to say. He’s not an 10/10, but he’s an 8/10. He’s got the girl’s votes and I have a lotta respect for him. He’s come a long way as an artist and I love iiiiittttt.

Roshani, I was so unhappy to see her leave. I think the song that she sung was a great song. I was glad she stuck up for herself, and I’m glad she sung it…. I’ll see her at the Opera House!

Michael Jackson week is something I am excited about, I’ve always liked Michael Jackson, the song I’m doing is one of his greatest songs and I hope you guys like it as much as I like it.

I love you.

Love Chrislyn xo

Week Seven

Hello,

On Friday there was a 2Day FM rooftop concert. I think people won tickets to come and see us. It was fun; we got to mingle with the general public, and see what they thought about us. I took the time to sit with people and get to know everyone. Everyone was drunk by the end – not me, cuz I’m not allowed – and it was a fun night.

On Saturday we all recorded a song for our Top 10 Australian Idol compilation album. It was really good recording a song that was a big song in my Idol ‘career’, “True Colours”. I was stoked to be in a studio, and also recording with John Foreman! It was awesome, I really liked it.

I’m quite sick at the moment, I’ve been sick for a couple of weeks so hopefully it’ll be gone by Sunday.

Sunday night was a big night all round for everyone, but I got the touchdown from Guy Sebastian, which was a big thing. Guy won Idol in the first series, so to get a touchdown from him was a big achievement. Motown was a great genre; I love Idol for making Motown a genre.

Then, after that, we got taken to the ARIAs. That was a great night seeing P!NK, Gabriella Cilmi, The Presets – they were awesome! Seeing all these famous people I never thought I’d be in the same vicinity as – it was just great.

Monday night: man, the Bottom Three was weird. Teale, Mark and Sophie in the Bottom Three. Sophie and Teale were somewhat expected, but Mark, definitely not. I don’t know what Australia was thinking putting Mark in the Bottom Three – that was weird. Sophie seemed ready to leave. She left gracefully, and that’s a really good thing to have done. She didn’t seem upset, she said, ‘I’ve got so much more to do’. She came out a better person - she’s gonna get out there and she’s gonna kick arse.

Thanks for listening, love ya,

Love Chrislyn xoxo…

Week Six

Hello,

Going to Melbourne was awesome! I got to hang out with my cousins, and have dinner with them. I hadn’t seen them in a year. The hotel we stayed at was cool too – I had a king-sized bed - gotta love that! Then we went to Knox Shopping Centre for autograph signing. Everyone there was pretty much crazy! We had to sign 200 autographs in an hour, it was a little bit rushed, but it was great – fans were like, “OMG, it’s Chrislyn!!” People know me – it was great!

Then we went off to the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice awards and got our hair and makeup done. Walking down the orange carpet was pretty awesome. I was on the carpet with Bindi Irwin – I was freaked out, I was like, “There’s Terry Irwin! OMG!!” Being in the same place on the orange carpet with these famous people was amazing – I’ve come this far. I met Suzanna off Big Brother – she was pretty cool. Then we went in for the awards. We got onstage, and I had a camera in my hand and Ricki-Lee was like, ‘Do you want a photo?’ She counted to three and then all this slime came down! Then we started sliming the audience and we got in trouble. Then we had to run backstage, showered, had our hair and makeup done, and then flew back to Sydney to the Sony Charity Ball where Jessica Mauboy, Amy Pearson and Shannon Noll were all performing. We auctioned off two tickets to the grand final – they sold for $6,000! But all the other stuff was selling for like, $20,000. Then we went home, and went to bed, finally.

I think I was a little confused on Sunday night – I don’t know where my mind was at. I gave my performance everything, but when I watched it back it was over the top. What Dicko said was right, he was right on the money. I’m glad he told me rather than not telling me, so I can fix it. This week is Motown’s week – it’s gonna be, “Chrislyn’s back!”

Monday night I wasn’t in the Bottom Three, but Teale, Thanh and Sophie were. Seeing Thanh leave was sort of unexpected, but sort of expected as well. He sorta went downhill the week before he left – I think he was missing home a lot, and it showed in his performance as well.

Seeing Jessica Mauboy perform was awesome! She’s fantastic, and she looks great. Seeing someone on Idol be so successful is great – it’s like, wow, that could be us.

So it’s Motown next week, and I’m really excited – this is the week I’ve been waiting for! My song is just a fun song, and it’s nothing desperate – don’t wanna do that anymore. It’s gonna be fun.

Week Five

Hey guys,

Bottom Three on Monday night really freaked me out. It definitely gave me a reality hit that I’m not always gonna have big ‘up weeks’, cuz what comes up must come down. I never want to experience that again. It made me realize how much I want this. Being with Roshani and Madam was a complete shock – I expected to get in the Bottom Three but I didn’t expect Roshani or Madam to be there at all.

Roshani’s performance on Sunday was outstanding, and Madam really suited what she was singing. I can’t say anymore. It was a shock.

Rock Week this week is definitely leaning towards my comfort zone. I do like rock but I’ve never dived into it. Meeting the guys from INXS was awesome. Tim Farriss is one of the most funniest dudes I’ve ever met. They have a lot to say in terms of performance and instrumentation. It was an absolute honour to spend the time that I did with them. In my workshop, my song was said to be a slow rock song. We’ve beefed it up, and now it’s gonna be a massive slow rock song!

I can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve done with it. I’m feeling good about it, so I think that’s a good sign. The aggressive, emotional Chrislyn is going to come out!

Last Saturday I went home to Brisbane to see my family and friends and that definitely took some of the stress away. It was just really nice to catch up with my family and have time with them that I’ve been longing for the last two months.

I feel so rejuvenated now!

Week Four

Hey everyone,

We had our music workshop on Friday. I was singing “Chains” by Tina Arena, and Erana was telling me I need to feel what I’m singing but I haven’t had any experience in any chained down environment, so it was kinda hard. I was sorta happy with what I did on Sunday – I think I could have done a lot better. I feel I’m growing every week and trying to improve my performances.

We went to Bondi on Saturday – it was funny, as soon as we got up from eating breakfast we were mobbed by teenage girls asking for Tom. There’s a lot of loyal fans out there. It was a little overwhelming at first – people knowing you and knowing your name, but I had a lotta fun.

It was a big shock to everyone to see Tom go on Monday. He obviously had the votes out there, and people might have stopped voting cuz they thought he had it – not the case! He said to me after the show he was ready to go – I think the whole thing was very overwhelming for him.

Abba night’s gonna be interesting – everyone is challenged by it, which is a good thing; we’re all in the same boat. Guys are singing what girls sing – it’ll be an interesting night! I’m looking forward to seeing what outfits they come up with - '70s jumpsuits maybe, you never know!

Week Three

I never thought in my whole life I would meet Cyndi Lauper. When I found out I was gonna meet her, I was like ‘Oh. My. God.’ My mum listened to her all the time. When I chose “True Colours”, I didn’t know Cyndi was gonna be on the show. When I found out, I was gonna change my song but I’m glad I didn’t. She is a fantastic, musician, woman, person. Her workshops were very intense. Because I was singing her song, I had that extra pressure to make it perfect. She drilled me more than a few times, and in the end I was knackered. I got so much out of it – she was a big inspiration.

I think Darren Hayes is pretty funny – I had a workshop with him the other day. He really inspired me to be myself, and that’s a very important thing on this show, cuz people want to see who you are. He was a bit concerned about me singing what I’m singing, but once he heard it, he changed his mind.

Seeing Brooke go on Sunday was a big shock cuz she was really just starting to come into her own and grow into a performer. Then, just as she started to do that, she was voted off. Plus she was my roomie - now it’s me and Sophie. We used to be three and now it’s only two. I’m missing Brooke quite a bit.

To all my family and my friends, I love you and I miss you so much. I wish you could be here sharing this experience.

To my fans and supporters, I thank you so much. Without you guys I wouldn’t be here doing what I’m doing.

Love Chrislyn.

Week Two

Hey,

My Final 12 performance this week was awesome! The audience was crazy, and I was crazy and everyone was just crazy!

I was really happy with the judges’ comments cuz I got a Touchdown – maaaaah! And then I scored a hug off Kyle again - second hug this year! Dicko told me to get on a treadmill, cuz he thought I was unfit, which was fair enough, I think, and Marcia said I was good, and I was like, ‘Oh thanks!’ I was really happy with what they said. The funniest thing that happened this week was seeing myself swear on national TV – it was hilarious, with the Australian Idol symbol around my mouth and everything.

The McDonalds Charity Ball was awesome! There were so many people there, and a lot of young kids. Then we got up and sung “Can You Feel It”, and that went awesomely, fantastically, brilliantly well. All the young kids came up and took photos of me, which was funny cuz my top was falling down – ha ha!

Being all famous and stuff and getting noticed and stuff is so weird. When we were at Westpoint Blacktown, we had to get pulled through the crowds by security because all the kids want you; people want to talk to you. There was a little girl crying because she saw me. She obviously really liked me, so I took my time and stopped, gave her a hug and a kiss. That to me is the highlight of my famousness at the moment.

I chose my ‘80s song because I’m very passionate about the ideas and theme in the song - that really drew me towards it. It is a very different song to what I would normally sing. Expect a surprise….. Baaah!

Love Chrislyn

Week One

Hey, what’s up, my brothers?

This week has been very hectic. The day after I got into the Final 12, I had a TV week shoot which went for three hours from 7am. So it was a good start – if an early start – to the whole experience. Photo shoots are really fun, cuz you get your makeup done, and pose for magazines. I like people playing with my hair and make-up, but I know I’ll get sick of it soon. Then because I was the first one who got voted in, I had to go to all the other semi-final shows, so it was a pretty hectic first week.

The house is so big it’s not even worth laughing about. Tom decided he wanted to share a room with me, and I said no, cuz he’s a boy, and he’s 16, and it’s Tom – ha ha. It was weird to see friends I was close with not get into the Final 12 - I’m still trying to find my feet in the house, cuz I lost my little clique. There’s a heated pool in the house, and my bathroom floors are heated, and I have a spa in my bathroom - it’s awesome, I love it. And Sam, our awesome sexy cook, he’s a legend; I call him ‘mum’ cuz he looks after us. He asks me for a goodbye mum kiss whenever I see him.

It’s quite fun doing the vocal workshops, as you spend quality time with the vocal coach, Erina. If you get a good result you love Erina, if you don’t, you love her anyway cuz she’s Erina – she’s a legend and I love her.

A little bit about my first audition: I was always planning to audition for Idol, but I found out I had a commitment to a school production so I was putting off going to the audition. I was at a party with my fiends, a little Filipino gathering, and one of my friends was like, ‘Why aren’t you at the Idol auditions?!’ She ended up driving me all the way to South Bank in Brisbane. We got there at 2.30pm in the afternoon, just before registration finished. I auditioned and I got though! Then, the more I got through, the more I wanted it. At first I was scared of letting the people in the school production down, but I didn’t, and I got what I wanted out of it all anyway!

Top 100 week was the hardest bit of the competition. You’re put though so much emotions and feelings – you don’t know what judges are gonna say. I was bagged for wearing bad clothes, and it was fair enough – when I saw myself on TV and I was like, ‘Why would you wear that Chrislyn, you idiot!’ Singing with the band and audience was when I felt at home, it was so crazy and fun!

I chucked my mic stand, and finally got to come out of my little shell, and show the judges what I could do - especially Kyle. He’s a good boy - he thinks I’m cheeky. I pretended to flash him the other night in the ad break and he was laughing right up to when we came back on air. I get along with the judges in different ways. Dicko’s my favourite judge on TV, because when he gives criticisms, he backs it up, he doesn’t just give criticisms like Kyle does without backing it up. Kyle is really fun off camera, and Marcia is beautiful – I love them all in their different ways.

Thanks for reading my blog, and hope to see you next week my brothers!

Love Chrislyn.
