Week One
Hey, what’s up, my brothers?
This week has been very hectic. The day after I got into the Final 12, I had a TV week shoot which went for three hours from 7am. So it was a good start – if an early start – to the whole experience. Photo shoots are really fun, cuz you get your makeup done, and pose for magazines. I like people playing with my hair and make-up, but I know I’ll get sick of it soon. Then because I was the first one who got voted in, I had to go to all the other semi-final shows, so it was a pretty hectic first week.
The house is so big it’s not even worth laughing about. Tom decided he wanted to share a room with me, and I said no, cuz he’s a boy, and he’s 16, and it’s Tom – ha ha. It was weird to see friends I was close with not get into the Final 12 - I’m still trying to find my feet in the house, cuz I lost my little clique. There’s a heated pool in the house, and my bathroom floors are heated, and I have a spa in my bathroom - it’s awesome, I love it. And Sam, our awesome sexy cook, he’s a legend; I call him ‘mum’ cuz he looks after us. He asks me for a goodbye mum kiss whenever I see him.
It’s quite fun doing the vocal workshops, as you spend quality time with the vocal coach, Erina. If you get a good result you love Erina, if you don’t, you love her anyway cuz she’s Erina – she’s a legend and I love her.
A little bit about my first audition: I was always planning to audition for Idol, but I found out I had a commitment to a school production so I was putting off going to the audition. I was at a party with my fiends, a little Filipino gathering, and one of my friends was like, ‘Why aren’t you at the Idol auditions?!’ She ended up driving me all the way to South Bank in Brisbane. We got there at 2.30pm in the afternoon, just before registration finished. I auditioned and I got though! Then, the more I got through, the more I wanted it. At first I was scared of letting the people in the school production down, but I didn’t, and I got what I wanted out of it all anyway!
Top 100 week was the hardest bit of the competition. You’re put though so much emotions and feelings – you don’t know what judges are gonna say. I was bagged for wearing bad clothes, and it was fair enough – when I saw myself on TV and I was like, ‘Why would you wear that Chrislyn, you idiot!’ Singing with the band and audience was when I felt at home, it was so crazy and fun!
I chucked my mic stand, and finally got to come out of my little shell, and show the judges what I could do - especially Kyle. He’s a good boy - he thinks I’m cheeky. I pretended to flash him the other night in the ad break and he was laughing right up to when we came back on air. I get along with the judges in different ways. Dicko’s my favourite judge on TV, because when he gives criticisms, he backs it up, he doesn’t just give criticisms like Kyle does without backing it up. Kyle is really fun off camera, and Marcia is beautiful – I love them all in their different ways.
Thanks for reading my blog, and hope to see you next week my brothers!
Love Chrislyn.
