Australian Idol 2009 Andrew G
My greatest achievement?
Making it through the early 90s alive...
If you had to audition for Australian Idol, what would the judges say about you?
Very excitable. Might be good for unforgettable show. Sang with much gusto, was entertaining, but out of control like a runaway stroller down a steep hill.
The best part about working on Australian Idol is…
Working every day with a cast and crew who are super passionate about music. From our executive producers to our camera crew, every person on set loves music. It's wonderful.
My Idols are...
My parents, my brothers, Prince, Dave Rastovich (surfer), Glen E. Friedman (photographer), The Punisherz.
I can't live without....
My friends, vegan food, the ocean.
My most embarrassing Idol moment...
Having the crew take the mickey out of me for having a haircut last year.
My greatest inspiration...
The sunrise through my window every day. I've been given another shot at living. Better make it good.
The greatest risk I ever took was...
On a poker table in Las Vegas late one night on my birthday. It didn’t pay off.
My favourite book is...
Mr. Nice by Howard Marks.
If I wasn’t doing this job I'd…
Be surfing or snowboarding and playing dumb songs about girls.
Who was/is your favourite Idol past or present?
The Murphy brothers. The sooner that they form a touring superband the better.

If you were stranded on a desert island with an Australian Idol judge who would you choose and why?
Dicko because he has enough rock 'n' roll stories to last a long time.
Who are your musical Idols?
Prince, Burt Bacharach, Daniel Johns.
What was your first job?
Receptionist for my Dad’s practice.
What's your favourite album?
Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, The Black Crowes.
What's your favourite song?
"Always Something There to Remind Me", Burt Bacharach.
What's the best piece of advice anyone's given you?
"As you climb up, make friends with the steps on the ladder, you’ll need them again on the way back down." My Dad, from the Czech translation.
